The IPA is delighted to announce the latest partner to sign up to the innovative IPA World League – welcome to IPA Zambia!
Zambia, one of Africa’s leading Nations for pool, is a real hotbed for the sport with some incredible talent amongst its ranks, and is excellently run by the Zambia Pool Union (ZPU), which was voted Sports Federation of the Year in 2022, and it’s General Secretary Mr Tesfa Shinkombwe, who in turn was voted Administrator of the Year.
Zambia is also no stranger to collecting medals at the major events, including Gold at the All-Africa Championships, and Silver at the 2022 World Championships, with the Ladies also claiming an excellent Bronze medal.
IPA Chairman Kevin Barton commented “having seen first-hand the skill and passion that the Zambians have for blackball, it is something to behold. We can’t wait to see the top players from this great nation, pitting their talents against the IPA Professionals in the World Championships and Tour events, whilst the Zambian Team will be one of the key contenders for the inaugural World Team Trophy”
Tesfa Shinkombwe, General Secretary of the ZPU added “This is such an exciting time for Zambia! We have for a long time, been looking for an opportunity for our players to showcase their skills on the biggest stage – the IPA. We are thankful to the IPA for this amazing opportunity”
